Marina Abramović’s reputation as the godmother of performance art precedes her, as does her groundbreaking influence on the history of that medium. Ever since 1986, the year of her designing debut, Martine Sitbon has always been a fashion nonconformist. Placing womanhood at the heart of her label’s narrative, her countercultural approach has elevated her to cult status. Nearly 20 years on from her namesake label’s final collection, Sitbon returns with Rev, “an unapologetically retrospective glance at her greatest hits”. To mark the start of a new chapter in her career, she retraces her journey so far in an in-depth conversation with Susannah Frankel. Photographed by Craig McDean and styled by Katie Shillingford, the accompanying images celebrate Sitbon’s iconic mid-1990s campaigns – with creative direction now, as then, by her life partner Marc Ascoli.

Art Project focuses on the transient craft of performance artist Miles Greenberg, one of the protagonists of the Marina Abramović-curated, long-durational group show taking over Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall this October. Existing beyond corporeal as well as temporal and geographical boundaries, his work is transcendent – explored here by Donatien Grau. Photographer Devin Doyle immortalises Greenberg’s ephemeral oeuvre in a series of still life images documenting the props, fragments and hidden meaning left behind by it.
