VANITY FAIR: Hollywood loves a comeback story. On Tuesday, the Golden Globes 2023 returned to NBC after the network refused to air the show last year, citing the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s need for “meaningful reform” following diversity failures, racism allegations, professionalism complaints, and public embarrassments.
That means the last Golden Globes broadcast was back in 2021 when winners largely accepted their awards remotely, delivering their acceptance speeches from behind computer screens during a virtual ceremony. Still, red-carpet-worthy fashion remained with many celebs using the opportunity to show off stunning looks from the comfort of home. This year, the Golden Globes 2023—the 80th iteration of the ceremony—returned to the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, and with it, a homecoming for glamour, and all the showstopping red-carpet moments that kept viewers talking long after the show had aired.
With Ana de Armas, Viola Davis, and Michelle Williams all competing to win best actress in a drama and Angela Bassett, Kerry Condon and Jamie Lee Curtis going up against each other for best supporting actress, the evening was celebrated with indelible looks. From column gowns to dramatic opera gloves, the ensembles proved to be a feast for the eyes.
Before the awards were handed out, luminaries honored and performances celebrated, the red carpet welcomed stars in all kinds of fashion. Big themes of the night included gothic glamour, with actors like Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Lyonne, Daisy Edgar Jones, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeremy Pope and Lisa Marie Presley all leaning into the spooky-inspired trend. Pink was the color to wear, as Margot Robbie, Julia Garner, Elizabeth Debicki, Seth Rogen and more brought a pop of rose to the red carpet with their colorful outfits. And while many of the attendees reveled in designer duds, only a select made the cut and earned a place on our best-dressed list.
