Helen Mirren’s Hair at the Cannes Festival Is One Big Tornado of Blue

Something Blue: This bright, multicolored hair practically defies gravity.

Allure: The 2023 Cannes Film Festival officially started May 16th, and as per usual, we have our eyes on the red carpet to admire celebrities’ beauty looks. It might only be day two, but as far as we’re concerned, Helen Mirren already won Best Look on the first day with her multi-hued blue updo.

The actor shut down the red carpet for the Jeanne du Barry screening in a periwinkle blue gown, paired with blue hair piled onto her head in a messy updo. Up close, you can see that this colorful hair takes on a few different shades of blue, which were added to her hair using L’Oréal Paris Colorista Spray in Pastel Blue.

It’s hard to tell how, exactly, her hair was styled. It looks as if sections of hair were twisted and rolled in different directions before being pinned in place at random places on her head. These sections of hair were sprayed with a healthy dose of L’Oréal Paris’s Elnett Hair Spray to lock in the style. From afar, you wouldn’t be able to see the shiny blue hair clips that were also seemingly clipped to random parts of her hair.

Her makeup was pretty minimal. L’Oréal Paris’s Infallible Fresh Wear Blush in Fearless Coral was applied to the apples of her cheeks for a rosy flush. Her lips were painted with a similar pink hue using the brand’s Colour Riche Intense Volume Matte Lipstick in Le Rosy Confident.

Honestly, it’s going to be hard for any celebrity, even Mirren herself, to top this look. But we won’t mind seeing this blue hair again and again for the rest of the festival.
