Kim Kardashian hasn’t exactly shied away from a headline-stealing hair moment over the years. She’s the high priestess of wet-look, waist-length mermaid strands while also gamely experimenting with a razor-sharp lob and a platinum bob.
But her latest haircut is surely the most dramatic of all. On February 2, the reality TV star attended the 2025 Fifteen Percent Pledge Gala at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, which asks companies to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned brands.
Her go-to hairstylist, Chris Appleton, who also works with Jennifer Lopez, crafted the look and uploaded a carousel of images to his Instagram. “Love this new chop on kim, we got 7 inches off her hair! (No, it’s not a wig before u start lol),” he says in the caption.
While the blunt ends create a decidedly modern (even futuristic) look, Kim’s deep side part was strictly ’90s, with Chris referencing “Tom Ford Gucci 96” as his inspiration.

Kim isn’t the only Kardashian to be creating waves with a new bob. On January 24, Khloé posted a series of selfies featuring her new teddy bear brunette bob, which softly floats just above her shoulders and was styled in a ‘90s bombshell blowout.
She’s also not the first celebrity to be seduced by the flicked bob trend. Hailey Bieber made the cut her calling card last year, while, more recently, Selena Gomez debuted a ’60s iteration for the Academy Museum Gala 2024.

With not a single hair out of place, Kim’s new hairstyle is super polished and shiny but it stops just short of being wet-look. Instead, its clean lines show off her backless Balmain gown, which featured a halter neck, sheer chainmail panels and crocodile scales.
There was just one pop of colour in an otherwise minimal makeup look – full lashes, black eyeliner, a bronzed contour and a nude lip – and that came courtesy of her stiletto burgundy nails.
But who needs dramatic makeup anyway when your haircut does all the talking?
