While wearing velvet hot pants, no less.
InStyle: Lady Gaga is never one to shy away from taking risks (a certain VMAs meat dress comes to mind), and she’s also not afraid of switching up her hair (who could forget her 2011 teal hair era?), so when she debuts a new look, we take note.
The singer and actress debuted a new cut on Wednesday while enjoying a night out in New York City. Gaga was photographed outside Electric Lady Studios, sporting a new platinum blonde shoulder-length shag hairstyle. While the nearly-white shade is nothing new for the long-time blonde, the choppy layers and forehead-sweeping curtain bangs are recent additions.
Gaga paired the ’70s-inspired chop with an outfit reminiscent of the disco era. The star channeled Daisy Jones and the Six‘s Karen Sirko (played by Suki Waterhouse) in a sheer ivory ruffled blouse layered over a black bra and under a shiny multicolored blazer with black lapels. On the bottom, Gaga wore black crushed velvet hot pants, a bedazzled belt, and coordinating knee-high boots. Her accessories included a black handbag and chunky square sunglasses.
At another point in the evening, Gaga slipped into a black turtleneck minidress under a pinstripe blazer styled with the same boots and accessories.
Gaga has frequently rocked some forehead fringe (real or not). Earlier this year, she wore baby bang clip-ins with a ’50s updo during a rehearsal for her Jazz and Piano Las Vegas residency.
Most recently, however, Gaga had kept things relatively tame with long blonde waves. Eight days before debuting her new shag cut, the Oscar-winner posted a selfie in honor of World Mental Health Day, showing off her blonde side-parted ‘do.
