Frieze London is officially upon us and the art world is waking up from its summer slumber. The shows are opening and the event lists keep piling up. For many galleries, including mine, we wait in anticipation of the renewed energy Frieze manages to galvanise year on year. This energy is particularly pertinent now as anyone paying attention understands the current precarity of the art market. A sharp market downturn coupled with navigating radical change in collector behaviour has left us all collectively hoping for the best. It’s not all doom and gloom though – the instability has solidified, for so many of us, the importance of building community and collaborating, to strengthen the ecosystem and find sustainable ways to grow.
